Mission impossible for South Africa?

The Springboks recorded their fourth win in this years Rugby Championship yesterday to ensure that the competition goes down to the wire next week in Ellis Park. New Zealand however have really stacked the odds against South Africa after securing a late bonus point try in their win last night against Argentina.

That try means that the only way the Springboks can lift the championship next week is by beating the world’s top ranked team with a bonus point. Oh and also by eight or more points to stop New Zealand gaining a crucial losing bonus point.

So to summarise, next weeks game may be billed as a title decider but when you’re brutally honest, New Zealand have it in the bag.

Rugby Championship ; Round 2 Review

Round two of this years Rugby Championship saw last weeks fixtures reversed and gave Australia and Argentina a chance at revenge for opening day losses. However, despite lessening the margins and making the score-lines much closer, it was New Zealand and South Africa who came away with wins from Saturdays matches. Read more

The opening weekend of this years Rugby Championship didn’t disappoint rugby supporters everywhere with 18 tries over the two games. Although the results may not have surprised anyone with New Zealand and South Africa getting their 2013 campaign off to a victorious start, the score lines may have turned more than a few heads.

Contepomi to Skipper the Pumas

Former Leinster No.10 Felipé Contepomi will lead Argentina out on to the field this Saturday in the place of injured captain Juan Martin Fernandez Lobbe who has been ruled out with a calf injury.

The 35 year old who has now retired from European club rugby will be making his debut in the Rugby Championship when South Africa visit the Pumas in Soccer City on Saturday.
