After a successful week 4 for the Down The Laighin team, we are hoping to reproduce the great teamwork and guesswork to lead our fans to another great week. So far we have had mixed results, going 5/6, 5/6, 2/6 and 6/6 in the opening four weekends. With the first true Irish derby of the year between Leinster and Munster, this is where many fans truly believe the season begins for our Boys in Blue.

Rabo Pro 12 : Week Three Round-Up

Posted by Colm on September 23, 2013

Dragons Crest     23-16     Scarlets Crest

Man of the Match : Andrew Coombs (Dragons No.4)

Well it was the Dragons who got freaky Friday off to a great start when they ran in two early tries to take what proved to be an insurmountable lead over local rivals the Scarlets. The home side gave a defensive masterclass to prevent the Scarlets from winning in the first of the Welsh derbies this year. The Scarlets had battled back from 17-3 down after twenty minutes to only trail by a point after forty-five minutes but it was the Dragons who then absorbed the pressure and managed to extend their lead with two penalties. That win sees the Dragons break into the top four while the Scarlets have now lost two and are lagging in 9th. Early Days yet! Incase you missed it, check out the penalty that sealed the victory for the Dragons, What a Kick from Tom Prydie here : http://youtu.be/1_iJTWlc1RU

Cardiff Crest     25-30     Zebre Cresty

Man of the Match : Brendon Leonard (Zebre No.9)

The biggest shock of the year? Most likely, the Italian side have shown more promise Read more

Posted by Niall on September 20, 2013

Its week three and if you’ve been following our predictions you’d know that we’ve hit the post over the last two weeks. In week one it was the Ulster men who let us down as we predicted 5 out of 6 games correctly. Unfortunately last week it was our boys in blue Leinster who stopped us achieving a 6/6 week, when they drew with the Ospreys.

So, this is the week, surely! Here’s our predictions for Round 3 :

Glasgow V Leinster Preview

Posted by Niall on September 20, 2013

Leinster travel to Scotland tonight to face Glasgow in what could be their toughest away trip of the year. Both sides remain unbeaten this year with the two being tipped to be potential champions come May. Glasgow have yet to lose a game at Scotstoun this year with French side Castres the last to do so in December.

Matt O’Connor has made three changes to his side that drew with the Ospreys last week. Isaac Boss gets the nod over Eoin Redden at scrum-half with Tom Denton also being preferred over Devin Toner. His third and final change was the only forced one Read more

Rabo Pro 12 : Round 3 Preview

Posted by Colm on September 19, 2013

Match Day three of the Pro12 sees some exciting encounters. With three of last weeks games being decided in the final ten minutes the Rabo Pro12 has already served up some heart-stopping moments and hopefully this week gives us a few more.

Dragons Crest     -V-     Scarlets Crest

Friday 20th September, Rodney Parade, Kick Off: 7.15pm

A great start to the weekend with the first derby of the campaign coming from Rodney Parade when two Welsh sides meet for the first time this year. Both sides have won one and lost one in this years Pro12 and both will probably be happy with their form.

History shines on the Scarlets in this fixture having won the last ten meetings between the sides. However the Dragons will be brimming with confidence having seen off last year’s finalist Ulster at Rodney Parade earlier in the campaign.

Cardiff Crest     -V-     Zebre Cresty

Friday 20th September, Arms Park, Kick Off: 7.30pm

Cardiff have started brightly this season with young out-half Rhys Patchell Read more
