Rugby Championship : Round 3 Preview

Down the Laighin may have a Leinster and IRFU focus but as Rugby fans we keep a keen eye on rugby from around the world. Here, we continue our look at the Southern Hemisphere’s international showpiece, The Rugby Championship.

After a week break, The Rugby Championship will return this weekend with the third round of fixtures. Round one and two have realistically narrowed down the likely winners to two teams, with New Zealand and South Africa still holding a 100 percent record in this years competition.

Rugby Championship: Round 1 review

The opening weekend of this years Rugby Championship didn’t disappoint rugby supporters everywhere with 18 tries over the two games. Although the results may not have surprised anyone with New Zealand and South Africa getting their 2013 campaign off to a victorious start, the score lines may have turned more than a few heads.

Dan Carter will be out for up to a month it emerged this morning after aggravating an old calf injury.
The 31 year old had already announced he’d be taking a break from game after this years Rugby Championship.

The blow for Carter leaves the door open for Aaron Cruden or Beauden Barrett to take over the veterans role.
