After being substituted before the hour mark in his opening game, Irish out half Johnny Sexton will hope to put in a steadier performance against European champions Toulon on Friday night.
Racing Metro got their Top 14 campaign off to a winning start yesterday with a 19-14 win over Brive. Sexton played a crucial part in the Racing’s only try when his line break and off load sent Benjamin Lapeyre over in the 11th minute.
Sexton’s kicking stats on the day don’t make great reading making two and missing two while also converting the try he helped create. He was substituted after 59 minutes with his replacement Johnathan Wisniewski knocking over both his attempts at goal to give Racing a winning start to the season.
European Champions Toulon await Racing next friday night in a big name encounter which will see Sexton line up opposite Wilkinson. More Sex-Watch next week.
Johnny Sexton is due to make his first Top 14 appearance today since leaving Leinster during the summer.
Although his new club Racing Metro are due to be the home side in todays clash against Brive. Club president Jacky Lorenzetty has decided to host the fixture 500kms away from home in La Rochelle. How strange? He feels most of their normal home support will be on vacation.
Well anyways I’m sure all Irish Rugby supporters will be keeping a keen eye on all match reports involving Ireland’s No.10. Best of luck to Johnny today.
